David McGoldrick reflected on a satisfactory night for himself and Ipswich Town, after he scored both goals in the Blues’ 2-0 Carabao Cup win at Luton Town.
McGoldrick struck in the 34th and 90th minutes with angled drives, after being fed by Bersant Celina and Dominic Iorfa respectively.
He was an unused substitute in Saturday’s home win against Birmingham and will be pushing for a start for Saturday’s league trip to Barnsley.
“That’s my job (to score goals), the team rely on me, that’s what I am paid for, it was a great team performance and great individually for me to score,” he said.
“We do (finishing) that in training a couple of times a week, especially the second goal, the movement, going inside and out, shooting across the keeper and it paid off.”
Town have two win from two now to start the season and McGoldrick added: “There is a lot of confidence in the team, and we are playing a different system.
“The results and performances were unacceptable last season and we are still clicking and coming together (now) but we are playing some good football.”
