A duo from Stowmarket have lost a combined weight of over 18 stone this year and are using their success to help others shed the pounds.
Nic Watkins, 54, and Nicole Goodenough, 32, have both recently trained as slimming world consultants after attending groups themselves that helped them lose weight.
Mr Watkins is now over 13 stone lighter since starting his journey, and joined Slimming World after being inspired by his daughter, who also lost weight.
He said: "I was physically unfit, struggling with my diabetes and mental health and worried that I would not be there for my wife, children and grandchildren.
"Something needed to change so I lost two stone at home alone, but then I started to struggle to keep the motivation to lose weight.
"I was offered 12 free weeks through the One Life Suffolk scheme to join Slimming World and snapped it up.
"As a man, I was apprehensive and worried about joining the group and feared I would be the only man.
"Walking through the door that very first night was the best thing I have ever done.
"I was warmly welcomed and to my surprise was not the only man.
"Since losing weight I have reduced my diabetes medication from three tablets to one and feel amazing.
"I have joined the gym and am now more active than I have ever been."
Mum of five, Nicole Goodenough, has seen her confidence soar since losing five stone.
She said: "I was at melting point.
"I felt fat, ashamed and ugly and when nothing no longer fitted, I knew I needed to make the brave step and join my local group.
"As a mum, I needed an eating plan that was flexible and family-friendly after relying on takeaways or quick easy frozen food.
"Gone are those days. I enjoy making homemade chicken nuggets and chips, pulled pork, beef burgers and a traditional cooked breakfast as a family on a Sunday morning.
"I couldn't be more thrilled."
