Seventeen delicious Suffolk restaurants have been included in the prestigious Good Food Guide for 2023.
The Brewers in Rattlesden was a new addition to the list this year with popular places including the Biddleston Crown and Masion Bleue retaining their status.
The full list of restaurants that are included on the list is as follows:
1. 1921 Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds. Rating - Very Good
One of the most popular places for food in Bury St Edmunds is 1921 Angel Hill.
The restaurant is close to the Abbey Gardens, and the main courses are designed to reflect Bury St Edmunds and Suffolk.
2. Maison Bleue, Bury St Edmunds. Rating - Very Good
The restaurant was recently named one of the best in the UK.
The Good Food Guide described the west Suffolk restaurant as "classy" and a great place to relax and enjoy superlative service and lovely French food.
A three-course meal at The Maison Bleue costs £39.50.
3. The Leaping Hare, Stanton. Rating - Very Good
Housed in a converted 400-year-old barn, this restaurant has been in the Good Food Guide for 26 consecutive years.
People are able to choose from a blend of modern and traditional European dishes.
4. The Unruly Pig, Bromeswell. Rating - Very Good
Recently named as the second best gastropub in the UK, The Unruly Pig really is a destination pub.
The pub is a real hit with people from outside the village too as people travel from across the country to taste its food.
5. Pea Porridge, Bury St Edmunds. Rating - Very Good
Suffolk's only Michelin Star restaurant is Pea Porridge.
Pea Porridge is on a residential square and the restaurant's name is a nod to the old town green, which was once outside the front.
The restaurant regularly changes the menu from North African, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes.
6. Watson and Walpole, Framlingham. Rating - Very Good
This eatery is co-owned by restaurateur, food writer and former hotelier Ruth Watson and Rob Walpole.
The menu changes monthly and each dish has its own unique twist.
The owners recently opened a new Italian bar in the town.
7. The Suffolk, Aldeburgh. Rating - Good
The Suffolk in Aldeburgh has also been named in the top 100 restaurants by Square Meal.
The restaurant, which has six uniquely-designed bedrooms to stay in, began as French pop-up restaurant L'Escargot Sur-Mer in 2020 before plans were finalised to make a permanent move to the site in 2021.
8. Montaz, Newmarket. Rating - Good
Described as one of the best contemporary Indian restaurants in the region, Montaz is a popular choice for many.
9. Sole Bay Fish Company, Southwold. Rating - Good
The popular fish and chip shop retained its spot on the list.
The business had to close temporarily after a devastating fire last month.
Owners recently announced they are up and frying once again.
10. The Kings Arms, Haughley. Rating - Good
The food and drink at the Kings Arms will "blow you away", according to one review.
11. The Anchor, Walberswick. Rating- Good
Boasting a huge beer garden, The Anchor is a short walk from the larger coastal town of Southwold and is a popular pit-stop for those on a coastal trek.
12. The Angel Inn, Stoke-by-Nayland. Rating - Good
The Angel Inn, a restaurant with rooms in Stoke-by-Nayland, is popular with locals but also people passing through the picturesque village.
It was also recently named one of the best places to stay in the East of England.
13. The Bidleston Crown, Bildeston. Rating - Good
The Bildeston Crown was one of the 32 Suffolk restaurants included in the prestigious AA Guide.
The restaurant, which is one of the most renowned places to eat in all of Suffolk, serves a range of classic dishes including beer battered fish and chips, sirloin steak and red poll cheeseburger.
14. The Brewers, Rattlesden. Rating - Good
Appearing on the list for the first time, The Brewers in Rattlesden has also been a popular choice for foodies.
15. No 5 Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds. Rating - Local Gem
Serving a range of breakfast and lunch items, No 5 holds a special place for many in Bury St Edmunds.
16. Three Kings, Fornham All Saints. Rating - Local Gem
The menu boasts locally sourced ingredients and choose from a range of classic dishes.
The restaurant has a set menu on Wednesday to Friday lunchtime and a beautiful Sunday lunch.
17. Wooster's Bakery, Bury St Edmunds. Rating - Loval Gem
Since opening in 2019, Wooster's has been a hit with the people of Bury St Edmunds.
