A Suffolk family with a one-year-old are calling out for council help after making the shocking discovery that the house they moved in to has a problem with mould.
Skye Crooks-Evans, partner Tye Christian, and one-year-old son Theo, live in a flat full of mould in Trinity Walk in Stowupland, near Stowmarket.
The family moved into the council-owned flat in early November, but only started to see mould around a month later.
It is now all over walls, the ceiling, the sofa, and underneath the one-year-old's mattress, and even though the couple has made attempts to clean it, but the mould keeps coming back.
They say it is now starting to affect their health.
Ms Crooks-Evans said: "I get headaches, my partner has been to hospital a couple of times with chest pain which they could not explain, and my son has been to hospital with chest infections.
"I think this is all to do with the mould. It's in our sofa, on our sofa, underneath my son's mattress, and mostly in my bedroom.
"It's not healthy for my son to sleep in. We are breathing in the mould at night, and recently we moved in with my mum for a while because of how bad it was.
They say they have contacted the council several times but although an inspection has taken place, nothing has yet been done.
A spokesperson for Mid Suffolk District Council said: "The wellbeing of our tenants is our priority, and we are sorry to hear of the family's concerns.
"Specialists surveyed the property in November and a number of actions were identified which could help alleviate the damp and mould problems. We visited the property again in December to carry out further checks.
"We will be liaising with the family in the coming days to discuss their ongoing concerns and what we are able to do to assist them.
"We take damp and mould issues very seriously and always want these to be dealt with as quickly as possible."
