A Suffolk couple who have dreamed of having their own barbershop will be opening their store with a sports twist in Stowmarket this year. 

Harry Cobbold, 24, and Tia Conway, 23, will be opening up The Lads Lounge in the town this year.

They said it will provide customers with a relaxing home-like lounge space where they can play video games, enjoy a coffee or a beer and watch live sports.

Mr Cobbold, who grew up in Stowmarket and is a massive Blues fan, said: "I can't wait to open the shop. I've been working in barbering for years and striving towards this goal and now it's finally happening.

"We want customers to feel at home. That's why we are calling it The Lads Lounge and providing beers, coffee, games and live sports.

"We want to combine a professional barber experience with that happy home feeling."

Mr Cobbold has been barbering since he was 17 in and around Stowmarket and Ipswich.

Meanwhile, Miss Conway, who grew up in Ipswich, has been working in the hairdressing and beauty industry for the last seven years.

The Lads Lounge announced the news social media page in a post that read: "We have some exciting news to share with you! We are pleased to announce that we will be bringing the ‘The lads lounge’ to Stowmarket!"

"What makes us different? We will have a lounge area for all customers to use pre or post haircut where you will be able to use our coffee station, beer fridge/bar, PlayStation with a wide range of games during your visit!"

"Whilst in the cutting room we will have a separate TV for live sports, including all sports fixtures available for you to watch whilst your enjoy your haircut."

In the post, the barbershop confirmed it will be providing complimentary beers, ciders and coffees with appointments.
