Two men have been ordered to pay compensation after a spree of thefts committed around Suffolk over two days in October.

The case of Cian Mullane and Michael Mullane, both of Arden Crescent in Dagenham, was heard before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich.

The duo, aged 20 and 32 respectively, were each charged with 10 counts of theft from a shop, which they committed together at a range of stores spread across Suffolk between October 2 and October 3 this year.

On October 2, the pair stole cigarettes, a vape, scratch cards and drinks from the BP Garage and SPAR Stores in Sudbury.

The same day, they took cigarettes, alcohol, tobacco and scratch cards from the Cracknells Garage and the BP Tothill Garage store, both in Stowmarket.

They also visited Bury St Edmunds, where they stole more alcohol, cigarettes and scratch cards from a Shell Garage and a Co-op store.

The following day, they visited a Tesco store in Ipswich where they took cigarettes and scratch cards. They also visited a Co-op in Woodbridge from which they took cigarettes, rolling papers, a lighter and more scratch cards.

That day they also attended Church Garage and Ascona Stores in Saxmundham, where they took food items, soft drinks, vodka, fuel, cigarettes, scratch cards and a sandwich.

In total, the amount the pair made off with came to a value of £892.64.

Both Mullanes indicated guilty pleas for all 10 offences and they were ordered by the court to pay back this amount in compensation, dividing the total between them.

They will both also pay costs to the Crown Prosecution Service of £85, plus a surcharge which goes towards victims’ services.

For Ciane Mullane, this amount will be £66, while for Michael Mullane, it will be £133.
