In the Bostik Premier, Leiston returned from a trip to Met Police with a point after a 1-1 draw.

With the strong wind at their backs it was Met who started the brightest and they took the lead on six minutes when indecision in midfield allowed them to pick up a loose ball, which was passed forward to Gavin James who fired in from 20 yards.

In their first real attack of note Leiston equalised in the 26th minute when Chris Henderson broke and found Seb Dunbar, whose cross from the left allowed Jack Ainsley to score from close range at the far post.

Leiston started the second half on the front foot and should have taken the lead in the 46th minute when Matt Blake found himself free in the penalty area but he was unable to get a shot away before Luke Williams in the home goal smothered the ball.

Leiston continued to dominate possession but were unable to create any clear chances, with Blake and Henderson having the two best efforts.

Elswhere in the Premier, Needham Market picked up a valuable three points on the road at Enfield Town in a 2-0 win.

Adam Mills gave them the lead after 12 minutes, with Daniel Morphew making it two from the spot just seven minutes later.

Lowestoft Town, meanwhile, were on the wrong end of a 4-2 scoreline in a home defeat by Staines Town.

The Trawlerboys fought back from 2-0 at the break to level at 2-2, with strikes from McAuley and Shaun Bammant after 50 and 55 minutes respectively.

Bammant’s effort, particularly, was superb – a curled effort into the top corner. A minute later they almost took the lead but were denied by a great save from Hudnott from close range.

But their visitors got back in front just four minutes later and Lowestoft, cheered on by a crowd of 342, could not come back again as they conceded another after 80 minutes to end their hopes.

Down in Bostik North, Mildenhall Town ran riot in a 5-2 win at Tilbury.

Tom Debenham bagged four for ‘Hall, with Gareth Simpson getting the other goal for Dean Greygoose’s men.
